Regulatory Context

Recovery and Disposal operations are defined in the Waste Framework Directive. Every transfer of waste must accurately record the intended operation at the destination facility.

  • Recovery (R Codes): Operations whose principal result is waste serving a useful purpose by replacing other materials.
  • Disposal (D Codes): Operations which are not recovery, even where the operation has as a secondary consequence the reclamation of substances or energy.
